I grew up thinking I was clumsy and uncoordinated. I heard this about myself constantly. But I didn’t need to hear it; the evidence was right there. I kept dropping things. Breaking things. Constantly. For years.

I also grew up thinking that I was terrible at sports. I heard this constantly. But I also saw the evidence. I WAS terrible at sports. I sucked at PE. I got low marks. I got picked last for every team. I was anything but athletic.

So I avoided sports. I avoided breakables as much as possible. But then something happened that changed my life forever:

I found out that my story was actually a lie.

I had internalized a story that I had been told to the point that I thought it was fact. But it was a lie. And discovering this changed my life forever.

You can hear to the whole story in my latest podcast episode.
